Fur-faced Watch

Jan 21, 2009   //   by Stephen Samuel   //   Fun Stuff  //  No Comments

Fur faced watch
The Waku watch, released by Tokyoflash, comes in fur or leather faces and uses LED to present the time.
"Touch Waku's button and a simple animation sparkles before the time is
presented in three easy-to-read steps. Hours are shown first, one LED
indicates each hour 1-12. Groups of 15 minutes are next, three LEDs
indicate 15, 30 and 45 minutes past the hour. Finally single minutes
are presented, fourteen LEDs indicating minutes 1-14. Count the LEDs in
columns of 5 and reading Waku becomes really easy!"
Probably takes some time (pun intended) to get used to reading it, but would be very distinctive to wear.

You Gizmos-Your Portal to Creativity

Jan 15, 2009   //   by Stephen Samuel   //   Creativity, Design, Fun Stuff  //  No Comments

YouGizmos.com is a
fantastic, new, project-oriented website for creative minds.  These
projects are mechanical marvels and range from simple to complex creative
projects you can do.

You Gizmos is devoted to the art of concept practice. It could be a strange
new mechanism, a huge boat, a miniature steam engine. It can be a trebuchet, a
sling shot for water balloons or a clock that runs on buckets of sand, or even
a potato launcher. It's the act of thinking of something new as well as
rendering it in wood, metal, plastic, ice, you name it. You Gizmos is for
serious artisans that have studied their craft for decades, as well as those
who are just getting into the game. On You Gizmos you can see and download CAD
drawings, part files, papers on techniques of all manners and for more, or you
can upload your own projects.

Submit a video entry in our contest.  The best submission, as rated by
a combination of our staff and user inputs, will be awarded a cash prize of $2,000.  (Contest will end after the first 500 entries
are received.)

Why YouGizmos.com?
We are designers, engineers, artists, musicians and extremely positive folks
who love to encourage everyone to be as creative and wonderful as possible.

DV Releases Basic to Advanced NX6 book

Jan 13, 2009   //   by Stephen Samuel   //   Books, CAD, DV-What's New, Our books, Software  //  No Comments

We have just released our latest book, Basic to Advanced
NX6 Modeling, Drafting and Assemblies
!
Basic to Advanced NX6 Modeling, Drafting and Assemblies is the newly
revised version of our previous CAD training textbooks.  We have greatly
expanded the content, detail, and exercises included in this edition.
Topics include:  Synchronous and Master Modeling; Fundamental and
Intermediate Curves; Editing Entities; Design, Reference Surface and Detail
Features; Sheet Metal Features; and Injection-Molded Parts and Castings.
Using NX6 is like playing a piano.  In the same way chords are as
important as individual notes, NX commands are far more powerful when used in
concert with others.  Our book makes an effort to show not only the details
of the most important commands, but the powerful combinations that we have used
to bring about excellent designs.
This manual will teach you the basic modeling, assemblies, and drafting
functionality of NX6.
