In Advanced Simulation Using Nastran NX5 / NX6, we will work on representative components and assemblies to learn all the skills needed to conduct various finite element analyses. This book has been written with the goal of making advanced finite element analysis techniques more accessible to those who are doing the initial design of engineering components and assemblies. This manual can be used as your continual cheat sheet for NX5 / NX6 Advanced Simulation/Nastran software. When design engineers in your enterprise master these techniques, they will be able to augment their design processes with better information sooner. This can easily lead to huge savings by avoiding failures and getting the answers to design questions without the expense of prototypes. The book has been written by people who are continually asked to produce good designs on a tight schedule. We hope this book is of great benefit to you.

Stephen Samuel PE, Founder and President of DV, has over 22 years of experience in developing and using high-end CAD tools and mentoring its users. During a ten-year career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, he implemented advanced CAD/CAM technology in a design and manufacturing environment. He has trained thousands of engineers in Unigraphics, written self-paced courses in UG Advanced Modeling and Best Practices, and performed design work for numerous Fortune 500 companies.

Erik Weeks, Senior Engineer, has over 10 years of mechanical design and product development engineering experience at DV, Johnson & Johnson, and Medtronic. He has developed products using Unigraphics and Pro/ENGINEER. He has trained engineers in UGNX CAD and Teamcenter Engineering PLM. Eric is co-author of Teamcenter Engineering PLM publications and co-inventor on pending U.S. Patents.

Benjamin Stevenson, is a Senior Engineer at Design Visionaries. He earned his BSE (Honors) Product Design from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland in 2006. He has been instrumental in creating complex design models of difficult Earth Moving equipment and numerous other geometries. He has also served as an NX5 expert trainer and has extremely satisfied customers as far afield as Japan, the U. S. and Mexico.
